In the first ‘special’ of our FREE online STEAM Sessions series*, we’ll be exploring the importance and role of designing and making within our lives, and the ways in which it enables creativity, learning and innovation.
The STEAM Session series is hosted by Derby Museums. In this session we’ll be joined in conversation by guest speakers…
We’ll also be sharing a ‘special’ first peek into Derby’s NEW Museum of Making, including a virtual tour of the Silk Mill site – regarded as the world’s first modern factory, an insight into its brand new workshop spaces and galleries housing amazing collections, and a preview of its Institute of STEAM learning programmes in partnership with Rolls-Royce.
*What are ‘STEAM Sessions’?
‘STEAM Sessions’ are a FREE series of bi-monthly events, exploring with educators how STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) learning is able to prepare our children and young people to face future environmental and social challenges in a rapidly changing world. Each session is a FREE live CPD event, featuring conversation with a number of expert guest speakers from national & international STEAM-linked organisations. STEAM sessions are part of the Institute of STEAM, which is a partnership between Derby Museums and Rolls-Royce. This STEAM Session is also supported by the Great Place Scheme with Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England. All who attend the session will also have the opportunity to continue the discussion, network with other educators online, and share free STEAM links & resources, via our interactive Slack channel.
