Finds Liaison Officer for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Meghan King, offers a fascinating insight into the recording small finds of archaeological interest, which are over 300 years old, found by members of the public.
Based at Derby Museums and Art Gallery, Meghan’s role sees her visiting other museums across the region and hosting ‘Finding Days’ recording small find and recording objects which qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996. Meghan previously worked for the Treasure team at the British Museum as a Treasure registrar.
This talk will introduce the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the Treasure process and provide an overview of interesting finds from the around the counties. Meghan will also have items from the handling collection so that attendees can handle typical objects recorded by the scheme.
