Field to Fashion: from sheep to the clothes you wear
Ever wondered where your clothes really come from? Step into Field to Fashion to discover an extraordinary story of transformation.
Through this exhibition, you will explore the journey of raw British fleece from sheep farming into fibre, you’ll see how people create the clothes you cherish and may even take for granted. Thanks to British Wool, you’ll even be able to touch all kinds of real fleece and explore how it’s spun!
Deep dive into the history of local company John Smedley who have been crafting their knitwear in Derbyshire since 1784. Discover the ground breaking work by De Montfort University students, Derby college students, artists, designers and makers behind this incredible journey of wool – from field to fashion.
This exhibition is part of the Field to Fashion project funded by Art Fundand Rolls-Royce, as part of our STEAM Learning programme and developed with support from John Smedley and British Wool.
