Session Description: Step inside Pickford’s House and discover the national and global histories of employment, empire, enlightenment and entrepreneurship that has been witnessed within these walls! Your learners will get to know the people who have lived and worked here, and specifically delve deep into Mary Pickford’s life. Through actively exploring and questioning a range of historical sources, and engaging in exciting hands-on, creative activities, they will uncover her interesting local influence, that tells a greater national story. What will your learner detectives find out? What will they make of Mary?

Session Curricula:

  • History (A local history study tracing how several aspects of national history are refected in the locality; use, explore, analyse and critically think using a range of different historical sources giving reasons for differing stories of the past; exploring the complexity of hidden histories)
  • Art and Design (develop techniques and use of materials with creativity, experimentation and an increasing awareness of art and design)
  • STEAM Learning
