Ancient Egypt in Derby: From the Nile to the Derwent

Location – DERBY MUSEUM & ART GALLERY

Duration: 120 minutes 

Booking and Prices: £6.50 + VAT per pupil. This session allows 25 pupils (minimum) to 35 pupils (maximum).

Session Description: Hear the fascinating story of a scribe called Ramose and learn what life was like for him and his family in Ancient Egypt over 3000 years ago. The class will be split into groups where they will learn more about some Ancient Egyptian artefacts called Shabtis and have a go at being scribes. The children will then discover the process of mummification using replica objects and visit our Mummified people and the ancient Egyptian collection. Within this session, the students will make a replica clay ‘Shabti’ to take home!
