Discover Creative Careers Week: Crafting Careers

Discover your passion for craft at the Museum of Making!

Derby Museums invites you to bring your students in Years 8-13 to an immersive half-day workshop, in partnership with Heritage Crafts as part of Discover Creative Careers Month, a Government funded, industry led programme working to ensure there is a larger and more diverse intake of talent into the creative industries.

Meet inspiring crafters pioneering traditional techniques like blacksmithing, lace making, shoe making and more. Learn specialised skills first-hand and discover diverse career paths in the creative industries you may have never imagined.

This interactive session gives students a unique opportunity to:

  • Learn about endangered crafts that shape our cultural heritage
  • Try 2x craft techniques hands-on, in small groups, guided by specialists
  • Chat with makers about their career journeys and day-to-day work
  • Ignite creativity and find your own calling in the arts
