Session Description: Enrich your GCSE Textiles provision by spending a day at the Museum of Making and exploring Rebecca Crompton’s story of innovation, experimentation and bravery. Through learning the skilful process of e-textiles, and applying their knowledge of series circuits, your students will be able to design and make a sampler with LED lights, conductive thread and a battery, that could influence their portfolio of work.

Curricula:

  • Science (apply scientific knowledge to practical activities; construct a simple or series circuit; Follow recognised symbols when representing a circuit in a diagram)
  • History (Chronologically explore the development of technology and industry over time in the galleries)
  • Design and Technology (understand how key events and processes in design and technology have helped shape the world; gain knowledge, understanding and skill to engage in an iterative process of designing and making; understand and use electrical systems in their products)
  • STEAM Learning
