Derby Museums is delighted to announce that the Museum of Making is reopening on Friday 26 January 2024. The Museum of Making is currently closed following substantial flood damage caused by severe weather conditions in October 2023.

Despite the challenges of 2023, it has been a memorable year at Derby Museums. There were lots of exciting exhibitions at all three of our sites, including Hogarth’s Britons, which brought 84 loans from 18 lenders to Derby.

We acquired two rarely before seen Joseph Wright of Derby paintings on long-term loan, unveiled our new permanent Marion Adnam’s display ‘Into the Enchanted Country’ and were shortlisted for lots of awards.

We have loved welcoming you to our events and activities and collaborating on exciting projects with our partners. We want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our fantastic supporters and funders, your support means the world to us.

We have lots to look forward to in 2024 but for now, grab a glass of something festive and watch our short film celebrating 2023 at Derby Museums.
