An Evening of Discovery: Derby Museums’ Fundraising Concert

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, art, history and community set within the intimate surroundings of the Joseph Wright Gallery as we raise vital funds in support of Derby Museums.

Begin your evening with a glass of prosecco and a selection of Derbyshire-inspired seasonal food in the Wardwick before enjoying exclusive after-hours access to Wright of Derby: From the Shadows. As the exhibition approaches its final weeks, this is a rare opportunity to experience it in a relaxed, intimate setting.

The centrepiece of the evening is a live concert by Sinfonia Viva’s acclaimed string trio, featuring Leader Sophie Rosa (violin), Alex Mitchell (viola) and Alex Holladay (cello). Performed in the inspiring surroundings of the Joseph Wright Gallery, the programme will feature music from Wright’s lifetime by composers including Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Interwoven with readings from Wright’s life, the performance celebrates the curiosity, creativity and spirit of discovery that defined his world.

The evening continues in our Museum on the Wardwick with an unveiling of new works coming into Derby Museums’ collection, followed by a live auction hosted by Bargain Hunt’s James Lewis of Bamfords Auctioneers. All funds raised will help Derby Museums continue caring for its world-renowned collections whilst keeping the museum free for everyone.
