Join us at the museum and develop your Make Do and Mend skills. In this open-ended session, you will use the galleries as inspiration and explore different textile skills such as darning, felting, embroidery and more. Outcomes for the session may vary and can be tailored to your needs upon booking.

Choose from:

Embroidery Skills – Join our facilitators who will introduce simple embroidery skills so that you too can embellish your clothes or make something new altogether.

Electro-Embroidery – Join our facilitators to design and create your own individual piece with a sew in battery, LED light and conductive thread, thinking about the science of electricity to influence their stitch and create a workable circuit.

Applique – Join our facilitators who will teach you how to adorn fabrics with wet and needle felting. We’ll use the new skills you have learnt to customise / mend / or alter a piece of clothing or make something new altogether.

Simple Sewing Skills – Join our facilitators who will share a few simple sewing and mending skills, like sewing on a button, darning and visible mending to make our clothes last long into the future.

Felting – Join our facilitators who will teach you how to adorn fabrics with wet and needle felting. We’ll use the new skills you have learnt to customise / mend / or alter a piece of clothing or make something new altogether.
