We’ve teamed up with Smith Partnership to create Good Wills. This scheme is a great way to support charitable giving to Derby Museums whilst providing professional estate protection for you, and supporters like you.

We understand that wills can be daunting. Good Wills aims to give you peace of mind whilst supporting a cause you care about. Your generous donation will support the future of Derby Museums and provide you with reassurance that you, your loved ones and your estate are taken care of, using the skills of industry professionals.

So, what’s Good Wills?

The Smith Partnership’s Good Will scheme is designed to encourage charitable giving while ensuring professional estate protection for supporters. It’s an accessible and impactful way for individuals to leave a lasting legacy to causes they care about, including Derby Museums, which plays a vital role in preserving and sharing our city’s heritage.

How does Derby Museums benefit?

This scheme supports Derby Museums in two meaningful ways:

An immediate £30 donation (gross amount) for every supporter who takes part.

Legacy gifts will contribute to the charitable trust’s work, helping to safeguard Derby’s rich history, inspire future generations, and enable transformative projects.

Every legacy gift helps Derby Museums continue to be a place where history, creativity, and community thrive. These contributions ensure that visitors can enjoy exhibitions, events, and educational opportunities for years to come.

Derby Museums have partnered with Smith Partnership to offer this service, but you may have your own preferred solicitor that you wish to use to leave a gift.

What if I need more detailed advice?

You’ll have access to an expert advisor from Smith Partnership, who will guide you through the process of creating a will through this scheme. Whether at an in-person appointment or via video call, they’ll carefully discuss your family, finances, and the legacies you’d like to leave. A draft will be shared for approval before the will is finalised, ensuring everything is tailored to your wishes.

Can I donate to other charities through the scheme?

Yes, you can! You can include up to three specific legacy gifts for charities of your choice, including Derby Museums. Whether you wish to support other causes alongside the museum or focus solely on Derby Museums, the scheme is designed to align with where you choose to make an impact.

There is absolutely no obligation to include a charitable gift in your will when using this discounted will writing service, but we hope you will consider leaving Derby Museums a gift once loved ones are provided for.

I’m interested, how do I get started?

Make a £25 donation to Derby Museums via our Donate page, select ‘Good Wills with Smith Partnership’, and receive a unique Good Will scheme code. (£25 is the net amount, as this is subject to VAT)

This code grants access to reduced fixed fees: £275 plus VAT for a single will or £525 plus VAT for a pair—saving £75 compared to the standard fees.

(This is the reduced fixed fees for the standard Smith Partnership will drafting service)

Contact Smith Partnership using this code to access the offer*. They’ll handle everything, including free will storage, and you can be confident that your wishes are secure.

If your circumstances are such that the standard will drafting service is not suitable, Smith Partnership are happy to discuss more complex solutions such as including trusts and inheritance tax planning. The discount will still be applied to the fees for the standard will drafting service, with additional fees for more complex solutions quoted and agreed in advance.
