The Big Give

Every child has the right to learn, create, and connect with the history of their local area. Help us empower young people through creative curiosity, and double your impact with the Derby Museums Big Give!

This month, we are taking part in the Big Give Arts for Impact campaign!

By supporting our Derby Museums Big Give appeal, you will help us expand our Craft & Making club to provide free extracurricular activities for up to 100 children.

Best of all! Through the Derby Museums Big Give, donations made between 12 noon Tuesday 17 March and 12 noon Tuesday 24 March will be doubled!

We are aiming to raise £7,900 meaning we could raise £15,800 in total.

We would like to thank the Big Give, and Foundation Derbyshire for increasing our pledge pot, meaning we can now double a fantastic £7,900 of donations! This will help us to reach up to 100 young people, inspiring more of Derby’s young makers and artists.

This money will help to run an extension of our popular and free Saturday Craft & Making club, allowing us to provide up to 120 young people with a programme of crafting and making activities. The young people will work with local artists, makers and industry professionals to explore their creative skills, develop greater wellbeing and discover possible creative careers.

The Big Give brings together philanthropists, foundations and businesses, with the giving public and the charities who need them. The Arts for Impact campaign is a seven-day online campaign, supporting arts and culture charities working to achieve societal impact across the UK.

What your donations could do

  • A donation of £25 (doubled to £50) could help us buy materials for two craft and making sessions.
  • A gift of £100 (doubled to £200) would connect the young people with a local maker, allowing 15 young people to learn a new creative skill.
  • A donation of £500 (doubled to £1000) would help us provide three making sessions, giving 15 young people the opportunity to complete a mini craft project.

If we exceed our target, any money raised above this target will be used to help us extend the project into next year. If we don’t reach the target, donations made will still be doubled! So, every donation really does make a difference.

To be eligible for match funding, your donations to this appeal must be made between 12 noon Tuesday 17 March and 12 noon Tuesday 24 March, via the Big Give online platform. Donations received in person or via our own website are always gratefully received, though unfortunately would be ineligible for the match.
